Welcome to La Mixteca Tamale House, home of the best tamales in Georgia. Founded in 2018 by the late Rosa Lucia and her daughters, the inspiration behind the restaurant goes back several decades when our family lived in the Mixteca highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico. Here, you'll find eleven different flavors of tamales every day - that's more than any other place in the South!

Making tamales is hard work, but we learned from the best: our mom. We've just hit our 5th year anniversary, which feels amazing, especially after the tough times most food service establishments went through during the pandemic. Thanks to great publicity from the Atlanta Journal, Eater Magazine, Yelp, Best of Gwinnett, and Atlanta Magazine, and the support from our loyal customers, we made it through.

We're so thankful to everyone who comes in to enjoy our food. We now serve thousands of hand made tamales every week, and our menu also has other Oaxacan favorites like champurrado, picaditas, tlayudas, and always-popular tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and tortas.
